July – what a month! A bit of travelling has been done by yours truly, the highlight, of course, being Barcelona (my post can be here if you haven’t read it yet). I don’t really do these sorts of posts because I had a fear of not having enough favourites per month to make an interesting post! But as of now, I will post my monthly favourites, 7 favourites per month to be exact. I don’t know why 7, it just has a ring to it ‘7 faves of the month’ – it’ll do!
So July faves!
I have been loving the summer trends which the high street shops have been hauling in this season – prints I cannot get enough of! So when I saw this cute skirt I in New Look (which can be found here) I knew I had to have it! You may have already seen it on my insta, the material is really light weight and the ruffle detailing is a lovely little touch. I have the matching top too which like but it is a weird fit for me, so I haven’t worn the two together, but perhaps I will try and style it a little more and brave it again!

I have been home from Uni for nearly two months and so I have a lot (and I mean, a lot!) of free time! So Netflix has been my summer love for those Friday nights where most of my friends are out on the town, I wouldn’t swap my lazy nights for a night out in my home town for anything! So I had been waiting for ages since it was announced that the Netflix original film ‘To The Bone‘ was to be released on the 14th July, and may I say it was quite a good one! It is the story of a 20-year-old woman called Ellen (portrayed by the exquisite Lily Collins) and her journey fighting anorexia-nervosa. Honestly one of the most powerful films I have watched in a while – there was nothing ‘Hollywood’ about it, which hopefully will raise awareness about this devastating disease. Though at times quite hard to watch, it was such a compelling film, Lily Collins did an amazing job of portraying the interestingly witty character of Ellen/ Eli.
For all my blogger app lovers out there- this one is for you! As you know I have been throwing myself into blogging over the last two months, but keeping track of what other bloggers are uploading is difficult. WordPress blogs are fairly easy to follow as there is a Reader link to all WordPress accounts which is fantastic. However, for those blogs which are more websites, it can be harder to stay up to date, this is where I found Feedly! It is such a handy little app which allows you have all your favourite blogs in one place and it is free to download from the AppStore. The app allows you to categorise your blogs by their type (e.g. beauty, food, etc.) however as you can see I have just put mine all under ‘Lifestyle’ as I find it is easier and most of my beauty blogs are on WordPress.
Since being home I have done some work experience in Chiswick Park Studios in London and they have a stand of magazines in the lobby, one of which is this one, Stylist. I honestly love it as there is always an interesting feature piece, lots of pretty things to look at. I’m not sure where else you can get your hands on this mag but if you see one I would recommend picking it up! For more information follow Stylist on Twitter (here) or visit their website (here)
I love a red lip whether it is autumn, winter, spring or summer. This one which I found earlier this month is by far my favourite, Stay Matte Liquid Lip in ‘Fire Starter’ by Rimmel London (I got mine from here). It applies like a dream, incredibly pigmented and ‘stay matte’? This thing does not budge – but getting it off at the end of the day is as easy as it is to apply! It is an orange based red which I find is best for the summer as it has a bright undertone, rather than a vampy ox blood colour – however if that is your thing, then continue on!
My book of the month is Casual Vacancy by J.K Rowling which was an amazing little read (quite fruity at times) which is set in the back drop of a sleepy village which seems to lay in all innocence until the death of Fairbrother the Parish councilman. From then the secrets of this ‘bliss’ town are revealed, children acting like adults, adults acting like children, it is all going on! I would recommend for anyone who enjoys well written modern literature with a little bit of artistic imagination shall we say…
Lastly, a little bit of a random one – these crackers from Tesco are just life! They are like a more sophisticated version of Ritz Crackers, I top mine with cheese or just eat them on their own and they are so delicious! Defiantly not the healthiest of snacks but as an occasional treat, I’ll allow it – everything in moderation my loves.
