How to stay stress-free during the Christmas countdown

The festive season is a stressful time for all, let’s not lie.

Whether you are a student with deadlines coming up, working a demanding 9/5 job or a full-time parent trying to craft the ‘perfect Christmas’.

Here are some ways to minimize the stress so you can enjoy this festive time.

Candles.

They instantly soothe me, the flickering light is enough to calm those nerves and especially if you have one with an enchanting scent.

This one is by Glade and it is one of their winter scents-  I love the warm cinnamon undertones.

Food.

(Need I say more)

Xmas is all about indulging in decadent food, that doesn’t necessarily mean overindulgence- just appreciating rich foods is one of my favourite things about Christmas and everything tastes better with great company.

If you are a student revising away like me, take some time out to grab coffee and cake with a friend or go out for a cheap meal after a day of studying. Which is what I did tonight with some of my lovely girlfriends and had this lush dessert…

 Music.

Like most people, I cannot live without music as it gives me an escape, but it also acts as something to help me work.

Reading.

Find a book which you love or something which will help you wind down after a busy day – something you are interested in or somewhere you want to travel.

For me I love anything which is part of the classics, Wuthering Heights is what I read every Christmas, it isn’t my favourite classic so I don’t know why I read it every Christmas…

I love a night in reading with Netflix playing in the background, it is an instant calmer. Currently, I have been getting back in touch with my literature days with this novel made up of poems and I love it.

Atmosphere.

Having a room at the end of the day where you can just relax and unwind is so important, as you need a break to just get away from work.

In my case, my ‘study’ is just the desk at the end of my bed, so I have fair lights which I put on when my work for the day is done. It changes the whole dynamic of my room, along with the candle, it definitely helps me to relax.

We live in a such a fast-paced world, that we all forget we need to take a step back and chill. I know that it isn’t always possible for some but just simple things like having a calming playlist playing in the background or lighting a candle 30 minutes before bed.

The countdown to Christmas should be a happy time – so let’s make it.

  3. I am a student and a mum so imagine how stressed I am 😅. None of these things really help me though, I just stress all the way until I get the burden out of the way. I’m a weirdo, I know 😳.

      1. Haha, I don’t drink alcohol lol 🤣.. I find that nothing helps m though. Coffee doesn’t (therefore I don’t drink it anymore) and my body is just too used to Coke by now (guilty🙊)
